Should I join a martial arts or boxing to stay in shape? What kind of martial arts? What are good prices?

it’s been very hard to for me to stay motivated to workout on a consistent basis so I was thinking of joining a martial arts class….I want to focus more on hand to hand combat than kicking….I don’t have a lot of money so getting a trainer to work with me on a week to week basis is expensive and i’m already in debt putting myself to college

Both will get you into great shape, but I’d go with Brazilian Jiu Jitsu it’s a FULL body workout, shreds calories off of you. I think the average person loses almost 1000 calories in an hour of jiu jitsu.

Can one become a black belt in MCMAP with little or no martial arts experience?

And do instructors and instructor-trainers get more opportunities to advance in belt rank?

Yep. Most people who join the Marines are not ninjas. This actually works better since it is easier to teach new things rather than change old habits. Pay attention at kung-fu class and request to be sent to schools for higher belts when your company has openings. Certain belts require a certain rank so don’t expect Black Belt instructor during your first four. Oh yeah just a little bit of info for you, Green Belt instructor school has a section where you get CS gas in your face then go do riot control.
